The Standard gets its signature urban feel from the bones of the building it inhabits, an old manufacturing space built in 1930 to house The Standard Wilson Glass Company. In 2011, Dewhirst Properties purchased the building.
They started extensive historic renovations to modernize the space while maintaining some of the building’s signature fixtures. As a guest at the Standard, you’ll notice details like exposed brick, an original wood staircase, arched doorways, and other elegant features.
Your wedding day can begin as you get ready with your closest friends and family in the spacious Bridal Suite, The 412 Loft. The space has changing rooms, restrooms, mirrors, and a makeup area, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to pamper and get ready! Don’t worry; the fully furnished “man cave” is a great spot for your partner and their party to get dressed and hyped up for the day.
If you’d like to use The Standard for your ceremony, you can either choose to use their main event space and flip it during an offsite cocktail hour, or you can host a smaller ceremony in either the 412 Loft (75 people) or the rooftop patio (60 people.) The Standard is also a great space for anyone looking to host a ceremony at a nearby place of worship, park, or any other Knoxville venue.
The Standard’s event space has over 10,000 square feet. Exposed brick walls and wooden ceilings lined with metal beams offer a beautiful and charming industrial space that can be decorated as rustic or as modern as you choose. Giant skylights let daylight pour in from the ceiling; you can transform the space at night with fun and colorful uplighting.
One of my favorite spots for photos at The Standard is the rooftop patio. Beautiful bricks and vines climbing the walls and the trellis overhead make it a great spot for romantic portraits, especially during Golden Hour as the sun sets.
The venue’s exposed brick and the charming exterior of the building are also great for beautiful photos with wedding parties, friends, and family, or even just for romantic photos of you and the love of your life.
There are plenty of perks to a wedding at The Standard, including its great downtown Knoxville location. There are plenty of accommodations nearby for your guests and many local attractions to keep them entertained in the time leading up to or following your wedding! There’s also plenty of parking across the street, and it’s free for your guests after 6 PM!
Regarding your vendors, you have total flexibility in choosing who caters, decorates, entertains, and captures your wedding day! As long as your vendors are licensed and insured in Tennessee, they can participate in your wedding day. Need a little inspiration? The venue will provide a list of recommended vendors for your consideration.
The Standard wedding venue is an exciting space full of charm and history, with everything you need to throw a modern and epic celebration.
Let me help you capture every moment of this day you’ve been planning for months and months! I’ll use my camera and my attention to detail to create an album of memories you’ll love to relive again and again and again.
