In 1939, an exhibition was held on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay showcasing the commerce and culture of Brazil. When the event was over, beautiful displays of Brazilian wood were donated to the East Bay Regional Park District as a gift of friendship on behalf of the Brazilian government. In turn, the Regional Park District used the beautiful wood to decorate the interior of a gathering space in the heart of Tilden Park.
Its beautiful exterior takes inspiration from old English architecture and features flourishing flowers and greenery gardens. The building originally opened in 1941 and was remodeled in 1965. Today, it is a beautiful, charming place for weddings full of romance and character.
The Brazilian Room is beautiful, with indoor and outdoor spaces, dynamic textures, and gorgeous views.
You can begin your wedding celebrations with a ceremony outside, overlooking rolling hills of trees and stretches of lush, green grass. A beautiful arbor or decorated arch can help set the scene for a vow exchange that is romantic and cohesive with the rest of your wedding aesthetic. Remember that there isn’t much shade outside, so if you have your heart set on a summer date, you may want to consider umbrellas or some sort of protection for your guests.
Then, move your reception indoors into the Brazilian Room, a space with a rich history and warm wooden accents in Jacaranda, Imbuya, Brazilian Chestnut, and Mahogany. A large stone gas fireplace sits at one end of the room, a beautiful backdrop for a sweetheart table. Hardwood floors and dimmable ceiling lights help create a cozy, comfortable aesthetic. The Brazilian Room can accommodate 150 seated guests, but if you plan on a dance floor, you may want to keep your guest list to a more comfortable 80 – 100 guests.
One of the other huge perks of a wedding at The Brazilian Room is the beautiful adjoining patio, which allows guests to get some fresh air and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding views.
Here are a few things to remember if you’re considering a Brazilian Room wedding: While there is a dressing area at the venue, it’s a small, windowless space (and there’s only one.) It’s better for swapping out shoes or touching up makeup throughout your event rather than getting ready with your wedding party and taking traditional “getting ready” photos.
Additionally, there are only 34 parking spaces onsite. Hence, if you are planning a larger event, you may consider hiring a bus or shuttle to help your guests navigate the winding roads and minimal parking.
Both the exterior and the interior of the Brazilian Room provide some beautiful backdrops for romantic wedding photos. The venue’s surrounding gardens are great for adding charm, color, and whimsy, and the stone and timber of the building are great for more rustic shots.
If a wedding album full of beautiful outdoor pictures is on your list of must-haves, you may want to consider exploring Tilden Park’s botanical garden. (You’ll need to pay for an additional photo permit). Something else truly special about the Brazilian Room is if you pick your date just right (typically March/April,) you can catch vibrant, blooming cherry blossoms in your pictures!
Your wedding at The Brazilian Room includes tables and chairs, a handful of patio umbrellas, and an upright piano (for indoor use.) You’ll need to use a caterer from their list of approved vendors. However, you can choose other vendors for flowers, photography, etc. The venue permits alcohol, but only beer, wine, and Champagne; they do not allow hard liquor.
The Brazilian Room in Tilden Park wedding venue is beautiful for secluded, intimate weddings full of charm and romance.
